Terms of Service

The agreement between you and the people who build and run Aeero.

Last updated September 25, 2026

These Terms are an agreement between you and the people who build and run Aeero: David Junior Nintang, Epaphras Akinola, and Foster Yaw Oppong, students at Grambling State University and Wingate University (together, “Aeero”, “we”, “us”). They cover your use of Aeero: the web app, the texting line, Aeero on WhatsApp, and every feature within them (the “Service”).

Aeero is an early-stage project run by individuals. It is not yet a company, and it is not a university service. Section 20 explains what happens if we form a company.

By creating an account, tapping “I agree”, or replying to Aeero by text or WhatsApp after we have sent you a link to these Terms, you agree to them and acknowledge our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your information. If you do not agree, do not use Aeero.

The short version

  • Aeero is a study and planning assistant built by students. It is a pilot, and it can be wrong. Check anything that matters with your university or other verified sources of information.
  • What you put into Aeero, and what it writes for you, is yours. We do not sell it or use it to train AI.
  • You are responsible for following your school’s academic integrity rules. Aeero is not a way around them.
  • Aeero acts in your name only when you ask, and shows you what it will do before it does it.
  • You can stop at any time. Text STOP to stop messages, or DELETE MY DATA to delete your data.

Who can use Aeero

You may use Aeero if you are 18 or older and currently enrolled at a college or university. If you are 17, you may use Aeero only with a parent’s or guardian’s permission, and they must agree to these Terms for you. You must give accurate information when you sign up and keep it current.

You are responsible for your account and everything done with it. Keep your sign-in secure and tell us at support@aeero.io if you think someone else has used it. One person per account. Do not share yours or use someone else’s.

The pilot

Aeero answers academic questions, reads your connected course information, tracks deadlines, sends reminders you ask for, and, where you ask, takes the limited actions described in section 6.

Aeero is a pilot. Features may change, pause, or be removed, and some are offered only to some users. We may limit how many people can use Aeero and may end the pilot. We will try to tell you before removing something you rely on, but we cannot promise the Service will always be available or work without interruption.

Aeero is not your university. Unless your institution has signed an agreement with us (section 19), Aeero is an independent project that you have chosen to use. It is not an official university system, and nothing Aeero tells you is an official university decision.

Your content

What is yours stays yours. You own what you send to Aeero, including your messages, files, and uploads (“Input”). As between you and us, you also own what Aeero produces for you (“Output”). Input and Output together are “Your Content”.

What you let us do with it. You give us permission to store, process, and transmit Your Content only as needed to run the Service for you, keep it secure, and meet our legal obligations, as described in the Privacy Policy. This includes sending it to the AI provider named in the Privacy Policy so that Aeero can respond to you. This permission ends when Your Content is deleted.

What we will not do with it. We will not sell Your Content, use it for advertising, or use it to train AI models. We have chosen an AI provider whose terms prohibit training on Your Content, and we will not change providers without meeting the same standard.

What you promise. You have the right to share what you send us, and sending it does not break the law or anyone else’s rights. Do not upload another student’s records or anyone else’s private information without their permission.

Output may resemble Output that Aeero gives other people, because many students ask similar questions. Your ownership of your Output does not extend to theirs.

Accuracy

Aeero uses AI, and AI makes mistakes. It can misread a syllabus, miss a deadline change, state a requirement that does not apply to you, or sound confident about something that is wrong.

You are responsible for checking Output before you rely on it. Always confirm anything consequential with an authorized person at your university, including:

  • degree, major, and graduation requirements;
  • course registration, prerequisites, and transfer credit;
  • financial aid, scholarships, and athletic eligibility;
  • academic standing, grade appeals, and deadlines with consequences.

Aeero reads Canvas, your connected tools, and university websites as your institution has set them up. If those sources are wrong, incomplete, or late, Aeero will be too.

Academic integrity

Your university and your instructors decide how AI may be used in your courses. Some courses allow it freely, some allow it for certain tasks, and some prohibit it. You are responsible for knowing and following those rules, and for any work you submit.

Aeero is built to help you understand, plan, and study. Do not use it to:

  • complete graded work that you are required to do yourself;
  • get help during an exam or quiz where that help is not allowed;
  • submit Output as your own where that is not permitted; or
  • get around any restriction your instructor or institution has set.

Aeero will not submit assignments, take quizzes, or post to course discussions for you, and the actions in section 6 are limited so that it cannot.

Connected accounts and actions on your behalf

Connecting Canvas. You may connect your Canvas account by giving Aeero an access token you create in Canvas. By doing so, you authorize Aeero to read your Canvas account on your behalf for the features described in the Privacy Policy. You confirm that you are the owner of that Canvas account and that connecting it does not break any rule your institution has set for its systems. Some institutions restrict sharing tokens with third parties; check before you connect. You can revoke this authorization at any time by deleting the token in Canvas or by disconnecting in Aeero.

Actions you ask for. Aeero can take the following actions in your name, and only these: send a message to an instructor or classmate through Canvas; add or change a reminder; and add and delete items on your calendar. Before any action that reaches another person or system, Aeero will try to show you exactly what it is about to do and wait for your confirmation. When you confirm, the action is yours, and you are responsible for it as if you had done it yourself. Aeero will not take any action not listed here.

Other people’s services. Canvas, your university’s systems, messaging apps, and websites you ask Aeero to read are run by others, under their own terms. Aeero does not control them and is not responsible for them. Using Aeero does not give you any right to use those services beyond what their own terms allow.

Text messages and WhatsApp

By texting Aeero, or by giving us your phone number and asking Aeero to message you, you agree to receive messages from Aeero by SMS or WhatsApp. These are replies to you, reminders and updates you asked for, and notices about the Service, such as a change to these Terms or the end of the pilot. We do not send marketing messages.

  • How often: it varies with how you use Aeero and what reminders you set.
  • To stop: reply STOP at any time. You will get one message confirming you have been unsubscribed, and no more after that. On WhatsApp you can also block Aeero.
  • For help: reply HELP, or email support@aeero.io.
  • Cost: message and data rates from your carrier may apply. Aeero does not charge for messages.
  • Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Aeero will never message you asking for your university password, a verification code, or payment information.

Acceptable use

Do not use Aeero to:

  • break the law, or help anyone else break it;
  • harass, threaten, impersonate, or harm anyone, including through a message you ask Aeero to send;
  • access, collect, or share anyone else’s education records or personal information without authorization;
  • connect an account that is not yours, or use Aeero to access a system in a way its owner has not allowed;
  • interfere with, overload, probe, or bypass the security of the Service;
  • extract Aeero’s prompts, models, or data by automated means, or resell or republish access to the Service; or
  • violate the academic integrity rules in section 5.

We may investigate suspected violations and remove content or restrict access while we do.

If you need support beyond studying

Aeero is not a counselor, therapist, doctor, or lawyer, and it cannot respond to an emergency. If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, call or text 988 (the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline, in the United States), or call 911. Your university’s counseling center can also help.

Fees

Aeero is free during the pilot. If we introduce paid features, we will tell you in advance, show the price clearly, and never charge you without your explicit agreement.

Feedback

If you send us ideas or suggestions, we may use them to improve Aeero without owing you anything. This does not give us any additional right to Your Content.

Our property

Aeero, including its software, design, name, and brand, belongs to us and our licensors. These Terms give you a personal, non-transferable right to use the Service as they allow, and nothing more. Do not copy, modify, or reverse engineer the Service except as the law expressly permits.

Ending your use

You can stop at any time. Delete your account in Settings, text DELETE MY DATA, or email support@aeero.io. Your data is then deleted as the Privacy Policy describes. If you have already texted STOP, we will still send one message confirming deletion, and nothing else.

We can suspend or end your access if you break these Terms, if your use creates a risk or legal exposure for Aeero, other users, or your institution, or if we end the pilot. Where it is reasonable, we will tell you why and give you a chance to fix the problem first. If we end the pilot, we will give you at least 30 days’ notice and a way to export your history.

Sections 3 (what you promised), 4, 6 (your responsibility for confirmed actions), 12, 14, 15, 16, 17, 19, 20, and 21 continue after your use ends.

Disclaimers

The Service is provided “as is” and “as available”. To the fullest extent the law allows, we make no warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We do not promise that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or secure, or that Output will be accurate or complete.

Some jurisdictions do not allow these exclusions, so some of them may not apply to you.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows:

  • we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for lost grades, credits, scholarships, opportunities, data, or profits, arising from your use of the Service; and
  • our total liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim, or US $100.

Nothing in these Terms limits liability for our gross negligence or willful misconduct, or for anything that cannot be limited under applicable law.

Responsibility for misuse

If you use the Service in knowing violation of these Terms or the law, and a third party brings a claim against us as a result, you agree to cover our reasonable costs of that claim. This does not apply to ordinary use of the Service or to honest mistakes.

Disputes

Talk to us first. Most concerns can be resolved quickly. Email support@aeero.io and give us 30 days to try to fix it before starting a formal claim.

Governing law. These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Louisiana, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules.

Where. Any claim will be brought in the state or federal courts located in Lincoln Parish, Louisiana, or in small claims court where you live if it qualifies.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms. We will post the new version here with a new “last updated” date. If a change is material, we will tell you in the app or by message at least 14 days before it takes effect, and the notice will say what changed. If you keep using Aeero after that, the new Terms apply. If you do not agree, stop using Aeero and delete your account.

Agreements with your institution

If your institution has a written agreement with Aeero covering your use, that agreement controls wherever it conflicts with these Terms, especially on how education records are handled.

If we form a company

We intend to form a company to run Aeero. When we do, these Terms, our obligations to you, and Your Content will transfer to that company, and it will take our place as “Aeero” under these Terms. We will tell you in the app or by message when this happens, and we will publish updated Terms and a Privacy Policy in the company’s name within 30 days. Your rights under these Terms, including what we have promised about Your Content, will not be reduced by the transfer. If you do not want your data to transfer, you can delete your account before it does.

General

These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and Aeero about the Service. If any part is found unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we do not enforce a provision right away, we have not given up the right to enforce it later. You may not transfer these Terms. We may transfer them only as section 20 describes or in a later merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, and we will tell you if we do. Neither of us is liable for delays caused by events beyond reasonable control.
